BuildPack

Pick your role. Each guide takes about five minutes to read and shows exactly where to click.

Builders and contractors

  1. 1

    Create your first BuildPack

Sign in with your email. You will be sent a code - type it in and you are signed in. From Personal Projects, give the project a name (usually the site address) and press Create. Your first BuildPack is free; after that each one costs credits.

Tip. Deleted it by mistake or started the wrong one? Delete it within the refund window and the credits go straight back.

  2. 2

    Pick a template

When you create a BuildPack, say what you are building: a new home, extension, loft conversion or kitchen. We set up the jobs, the building control visits to expect and a checklist of certificates for the hand-over. The Certificates page ticks them off automatically as you add documents with matching titles.

Tip. Not building one of those? Choose "Something else" and add jobs yourself.

  3. 3

    Fill in Project Details

Open Project Details in the sidebar and add the client, the property address, the contract dates and your own company details. Saved automatically as you type. Your company details can be stored once on the Account page and reused.

  4. 4

Add your subcontractors - or let them add themselves

In Subcontractor Register, press the invite link on a contractor and send it to them. They open it on their phone with no account, fill in their trade, company, registration and insurance details, and it appears in your register. You review it - nothing is trusted blindly.

Tip. Suppliers have their own link for materials, so the person who delivered the boiler can enter the model number.

  5. 5

Log what is built, by category

Work through the categories - Substructure to External Works - as each stage happens. Add a job per trade, fill the checklist fields, attach photos and mark the category Finished when it is complete. The sidebar ticks show at a glance what is done, in progress or not started.

Tip. Use Scan to fill in: one photo of a spec sheet, quote, certificate or product label fills every field it can read, and you review before anything is applied. On a computer, Scan opens your webcam.

  6. 6

    Record products and documents

Product Database holds what went into the house: type, brand, code, supplier, room and quantity. Document Library holds certificates and guarantees - upload a file or link to one. Both feed the final report.

  7. 7

    Keep the architectural drawings

Open Drawings and add the plans, elevations, sections and details, several files at a time. Each has a number, title, revision, type, status, scale and sheet size, and the file name fills most of that in. Upload a new revision and it becomes the current one, with the old one kept in its history. Files open in the page and stay private to your project and team.

Tip. Photograph a drawing's title block and use Read the title block with AI: it fills the number, title, revision, scale and date for you to check. The register is listed in the handover pack.

  8. 8

    Track Building Control inspections

Record each inspection stage, the date, the inspector and the outcome. Store the authority's details once in Building Control. Send the inspection link to the inspector and they can log the result themselves.

  9. 9

    Share it with your team

Create a team from Manage Teams, then invite people in whichever way suits: by email, by searching for someone who has chosen to be findable, or by sharing an invite link. Members can edit; Viewers are read-only. Anyone with an account gets an invitation to accept or decline under Manage Teams. Teams are free, with no seat limit. Every team and every shared project also gets a message thread under Messages. To put one of your own projects into a team, open Team & Sharing on the project: you review exactly who will see it, including drawings, before anything changes.

Tip. Turn on "Let people find me" on your Account page if you want other builders to be able to invite you.

  10. 10

    Let the client follow along

Open Client Portal in the sidebar and create a link. Your client sees progress and inspections live - no account needed. They can also use the access code on the home page, and ask for an email whenever a stage is finished or an inspection result is logged.

Tip. Turn on notifications under Account to hear about messages, team invitations and inspection results by email, and by push on your phone.

  11. 11

    Hand over the pack

When the job is complete, open Full Report. Draft the summary with AI if you like, edit it, add your logo, and download the handover pack: a branded PDF with a contents page, the certificate checklist, inspections, the drawings register, every section and a QR code that opens the live record. You can also export all the data. Every change is kept in the Activity Log.

  12. 12

    Manage your credits

The Credits page shows your balance, lets you add more by card, and returns unused credits to the card you paid with. The history lists every credit in and out.

Homeowners and clients

  1. 1

Open the link or enter your code

Your builder sends a private link, or gives you a short code. Enter the code on the BuildPack home page under "I have an access code". No account, no app.

  2. 2

    Read the progress view

Each stage shows as not started, in progress or finished. Open a stage for the jobs done, who did them and the photos. Inspections show their outcome.

  3. 3

    Keep the final pack

At completion your builder hands you the finished PDF. Keep it with your deeds - it is the record of what is in the walls, under the floor and on the roof.

Building control and inspectors

  1. 1

    Open the inspection link

You receive a single link for the project. It opens on any phone or computer with no login.

  2. 2

    Record the visit

Choose the stage, enter the date and your name, select the outcome, add notes and attach a photo or document if you need to, then submit. It appears in the project record immediately.
